The Ludo playbook

Bring your attention to one round of Ludo. Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Read the objective before making your first input. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Play with two or four people on the same device. Follow the house rules shown on the board; internet matchmaking is not available.

Practice with a purpose

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Make the next step deliberately.

What counts as success

Bring all four tokens home before the other players. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Start with a deliberate move.

Making your moves

  1. Roll six to leave the yard.
  2. Move an eligible token by the die value; home requires an exact roll.
  3. Capture opponents on non-safe squares.
  4. Six, capture and finishing a token grant another roll; a third consecutive six forfeits that roll.

Choosing and moving on screen

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. Use the control method described here for this activity. Use one clear input at a time.

Put the rules into context

A token two steps from home cannot use a three. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Verify the rule before continuing.

A mistake to avoid

Safe squares cannot capture; blockades are not part of this edition. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
